Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

걸어보지 못한 길

노랗게 물든 숲 속에 두 갈래 길이 있었습니다.
몸이 하나니 두 길을 다 가볼 수는 없어
나는 서운한 마음으로 한참 서서
덤불 속으로 접어든 한쪽 길을
끝간 데까지 바라보았습니다.

그러다가 다른 쪽 길을 택했습니다.
먼저 길과 똑같이 아름답고 어쩌면 더 나은 듯도 했지요.
사람이 밟은 흔적은 먼저 길과 비슷했지만,
풀이 더 무성하고 사람의 발길을 기다리는 듯했으니까요.

그날 아침 두 길은 모두 아직
발자국에 더럽혀지지 않은 낙엽에 덮여 있었습니다.
아, 먼저 길은 다른 날 걸어 보리라! 생각했지요.
길은 길로 이어지는 것이기에
다시 돌아 오기 어려우리라 알고 있었지만

오랜 세월이 흐른 다음
나는 한숨 지으며 이야기를 할 것입니다.
"두 갈래 길이 숲 속으로 나 있었다.
그래서 나는 사람이 덜 밟은 길을 택했고,
그것이 내 운명을 바꾸어 놓았다." 라고
